The Big T was good to a friend of mine and I. Here is the Big T April 5 2019 trip report.

The Big T Gods Were Smiling!

What an amazing day on one of my favorite rivers in Colorado. It is even better when you get to fish with someone you’ve known for a while. Adrian “Feathers” Messiak and I headed out of Denver to go play on the Big T out of Estes Park.

The morning admittedly started off slowly but quickly heated up. Both Adrian and I both had a few uncommited takes on subsurface flies, especially RS2s. With increasing air temperatures, we both experienced progressively violent takes from fish who were rolling softly below the surface.

Shortly after the fish started eating our RS2s, there was a hatch that came off. There were a mix of hits on olive dries and olive RS2s. I, Graham, was also able to get a few fish to eat my Ishigaki Secret Kebari.

The fish may not have been bruisers, although they were healthy.

Being able to fish with someone like Adrian was really fun. I look forward to fishing again with him.

Our day did not end with just fish. We ran into Estes Park for a post fishing day at the Rock Cut Brewery for a celebratory beer.

And then it was back to Denver to return to life as a parent for me.
