Growing up around the country has shown Charlie Schoenherr that there are always fish to be found. His first job ever was a deck hand on a Striped Bass commercial fishing boat in the Chesapeake Bay. He has been fishing his entire life. Starting out trout fishing in his grandfathers backyard, graduating to handlining catfish in Virginia Canals, from carp fishing in urban mudholes, to dry flies in the backcountry. Charlie will fish it all.
When he’s not running Operations for Gear, Charlie is a 6th Grade English Teacher at Sky Vista Middle School. Charlie’s passion for instruction and patience with new learners is what makes him such a solid guide. He is an excellent guide for families, and can even get middle schoolers to put down their phones.
When not teaching, or guiding, you can find Charlie with his new fiancé and their amazing black lab, Scout, chasing wild cutthroats, urban carp, or the next best mountain view.
