The wilderness of Northern Michigan is where Greg McCrimmon grew up and discovered his love and passion for the outdoors. His grandfather was responsible for introducing him to the sport of fishing and hunting at a young age, and those sacred traditions have only grown and developed since that first cast and release of a bowstring.
Greg feels incredibly blessed and fortunate to have been raised in the heart of such fabled rivers as the Au Sable, Manistee, Jordan, Pere Marquette, Boardman, and more.
A Passion for Fly Fishing
When Greg and his wife April moved to Colorado in 2007 he found his true passion in fly fishing.
For Greg, fly fishing is so much more than just fishing. It’s the adventure it leads you on, the amazing people you meet and share this common passion with, the stories told for years to come, the beauty and simplicity of just being out in God’s creation, and the honor and responsibility of passing it on to the next generation.
Fly fishing has taken Greg all over the world into some of the most beautiful places on the planet. He has made friends wherever he’s gone and to him, that’s what keeps him returning to these places as much as the fish and rivers. While he has certainly loved every place he has fished, there’s still something about remote creeks in the Rocky Mountain West full of native trout that holds a special place in his heart.
With all of the outdoor experience Greg has, he will be working with GEAR Colorado Fly Fishing as the Backcountry Lead. In the future, Greg will be creating truly unique backcountry experiences to some of the most beautiful locations in Colorado.
When he’s not fly fishing, Greg is usually trying to convince his wife to go fly fishing. It’s not uncommon to see Greg, April, and their adventurous black lab, Hoyt, casting flies on a remote Colorado creek on any given summer day.
