Phillip Chamberlain

Hello, my name is Phillip Chamberlain and I’m in love with fly fishing. Fly fishing is more than a love, it is my passion!

I grew up on a small creek just outside Lyons, Co. I always loved the way the river sounded and the way it always seemed to reset me. At a young age around 5 or 6 my father began to teach me the values of fly fishing. He purchased me a Cortland graphite 8′ 6″ 4 weight rod and I still own it and use it to this day.

After high school I had to figure out what I wanted to do for a “living”. All I knew was that my one true passion was fly fishing and I wanted to become the best I could be. I found that through teaching the art of fly fishing, not only could I create indelible experiences for others but I could also learn and view fly fishing on a whole new level.

I knew becoming a Guide is what I needed to do to achieve this dream of mine. After a few months of poking around, I landed my first guiding gig in Saratoga, Wyoming. For the summer of 2018 I was guiding the North Platte and Encampment rivers and would provide float trips or wade trips to 27 miles of wild trout streams! My clients were mostly brand new to fly fishing and had never done the art before. I quickly developed great teaching methods on getting beginners to understand the value of fly fishing and catch fish!!

I now reside in Denver, Co and look forward to the upcoming season with GEAR Colorado! It’s all about education and having a great time in gorgeous Colorado landscapes!

When I am not guiding fly fishing trips, I am fishing with my best friend Betha or learning to be a ski patroller.
